On a Saturday morning, just before Korean school begins, a bright sound drifts out of one of the classrooms — a room full of children, singing. This fall, our children's choir is opening its doors to new singers.

The choir is a joyful way to learn Korean language and culture through music. This semester the children will learn two songs — the cheerful carol "Jingle Bells" (징글벨), and "Sanyuhwa" (산유화, "Mountain Wildflowers"), a beloved Korean art song set to a poem by the poet Kim Sowol. One carries the fun of winter; the other, the quiet beauty of Korean verse.

Along the way, the children develop beautiful voices and harmony, discover the simple joy of singing beside their friends, and prepare together for a special end-of-term performance.

No experience is needed — just a willingness to sing. Our director meets every child where they are, and the group grows together, one Saturday at a time.

The choir is open to elementary school children in grades 1 through 5. Rehearsals are every Saturday from 9:15 to 9:55 a.m., right before Korean school starts, in the Korean school classroom.

Music helps children learn Korean joyfully and naturally.
